Mick Schumacher carried out a Formula 1 demonstration run aboard the Ferrari F2004 which his father used to claim his seventh and final world title.
Schumacher, 20, has been competing in Formula 2 this season off the back of winning last year’s European Formula 3 championship.
His father, 50, has not been seen in public since he sustained severe injuries in a skiing accident in December 2013.
Schumacher completed three laps in the Ferrari F2004 at Hockenheim on Saturday, sporting a special half-and-half helmet scheme, as previously used when he demonstrated the Benetton B194 in Belgium in 2017.
“It was great,” said Ferrari-backed youngster Schumacher. “It was amazing to be able to drive the car around here, it was my Dad’s seat and everything, I fitted perfectly so that was even greater.
“From going out of the pit lane until coming back I never lost the smile the whole time, even when I was locking up! It was really cool.”
The F2004 remains one of the most successful Formula 1 cars of all time, with Schumacher taking 13 wins from 18 races en route to the title, while team-mate Rubens Barrichello added another couple of victories to bring Ferrari's 2004 total to 15.
