TWR Techeetah's Stefan Rzadzinski completed the second row of the grid in qualifying despite suffering from a right rear puncture with four minutes of running remaining, with the incident causing the session to be red flagged while Katherine Legge completed the top five.
Yaqi Zhang emerged as the fastest runner of the Pro-Am category for Jaguar China Racing with VIP driver Darryl O'Young slotting into seventh, heading Bandar Alesayi, Ahmed Bin-Khanen, Celia Martin, Qi Lin and Sergio Jimenez who completed the field of 12 after failing to complete a lap in the second Jaguar Brazil car.
