FIA Formula 3 teams have completed a group shakedown of the new championship’s 2019 package at former French Grand Prix venue Magny Cours.
FIA Formula 3 has replaced the GP3 Series on Formula 1’s support package and ostensibly completes the governing body’s single-seater ladder.
All 10 teams were in attendance at Magny Cours, fielding one car, with track time shared between their respective signed and prospective drivers.
A total of 23 drivers received their first taste of the new car, completing a total of 635 laps through the course of a seven-hour session split into two parts.
“I am very pleased with how the shakedown went today,” said Formula 3 Technical Director Didier Perrin.
“The feedback from the teams has been positive, and more importantly, the feedback from the drivers seems to show that the car is well-balanced and that it seems to be delivering some good downforce level and that it is pleasant to drive.”
Formula 3 pre-season testing will begin at Paul Ricard on March 20.
