The factory KTM and satellite Tech3 MotoGP teams will take to the Sepang circuit this weekend during the three-day shakedown before testing officially begins next week.
From Friday through Sunday three days of running for the majority of test teams and riders will take place at Sepang, with the first official three-day test beginning at the Malaysian venue next Wednesday.
KTM was set to field new test rider Dani Pedrosa and Mika Kallio during the Sepang shakedown, but shoulder surgery last month for the former has skewed this plan.
As the Austrian manufacturer operates as a concession team, it is permitted to run more private test days with its race riders, and it will use this to its advantage this weekend.
Johann Zarco and Pol Espargaro are expected to run on Saturday and Sunday, while Tech3 duo Hafizh Syahrin and his rookie team-mate Miguel Oliveira are also set to for some track time this weekend.
KTM gained its first point towards the six required to lose its concessions during last year's Valencia Grand Prix, after Espargaro took the RC16 to its maiden podium in third.
Fellow concession team Aprilia will also utilise its allowed extra testing mileage for its race riders during the shakedown, with Aleix Espargaro and Andrea Iannone expected to run on Sunday, while test rider Bradley Smith rides today (Friday) and Saturday.
HRC test rider Stefan Bradl is present at the Sepang shakedown, and will continue testing duties next week with the rest of the MotoGP field for Honda in place of the injured Jorge Lorenzo.
