Force India has confirmed that Sergio Perez will continue to race for the team in Formula 1 next season.
Perez joined Force India for 2014 after previous spells with Sauber and McLaren, and has established himself as a midfield front-runner and occasional podium finisher, the most recent of which he achieved in Azerbaijan this year.
Perez and his backers were one of the main creditors that triggered the administration process in July that ultimately secured Force India’s future in Formula 1.
He insisted after the summer break that he had sorted his 2019 plans and the parties have now confirmed the expected development they will continue together for a sixth successive season.
Perez is expected to be joined at Force India by current Williams racer Lance Stroll, whose father Lawrence led the group of investors that acquired the outfit, though no news has yet been communicated.
"I am very happy to finally announce my future and I’m really motivated for 2019," said Perez.
"Force India has been my home since 2014 and has allowed me to grow as a driver and show my skills on track.
"We have achieved so much success in the last five seasons but I think the best is yet to come.
"The new investment the team is enjoying fills me with confidence and I am really excited about the future."
Perez has made 96 of his 151 Formula 1 starts with Force India and has finished seventh in the standings – in effect the lead midfield runner – in 2016 and 2017, a position he also holds in this year’s championship.
"I’m pleased that Sergio will continue his journey with us in 2019," said Force India team boss Otmar Szafnauer.
"Over the last five years, Sergio has confirmed his position as one of the most talented and consistent drivers on the Formula 1 grid.
"He gives us valuable stability going forward and is a huge asset to the team. As we begin an exciting new chapter in the life of this team, we are delighted that Sergio will race with us going forward."
