Stoffel Vandoorne is set to drop behind Lance Stroll on the starting grid for the Russian Grand Prix after taking on a new gearbox.
Vandoorne dropped out of Q1 for the ninth Grand Prix in succession and qualified in 19th position, ahead of only Stroll, but was set to move up five places due to an array of penalties elsewhere.
Fernando Alonso, Pierre Gasly, Brendon Hartley, Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen have all taken on back-of-the-grid penalties for engine changes.
Both Red Bull drivers have additional gearbox penalties while Verstappen was also slapped with a notional position drop due to ignoring a yellow flag during qualifying.
Vandoorne was therefore poised to start 14th but McLaren has changed the gearbox in his MCL33, bringing with it a five-place drop.
But due to the substantial penalties elsewhere he is set to lose ground only to Stroll, meaning that it will instead be the Williams driver who lines up 14th, with Vandoorne 15th.
Alonso will start 16th, ahead of Gasly, Ricciardo, Verstappen and Hartley, with the Toro Rosso driver taking an additional 10-place penalty due to new power unit components.
