Ferrari and Sauber Formula 1 reserve Antonio Giovinazzi will return to sportscar action at this year’s Petit Le Mans.
Giovinazzi will pilot the No. 2 Nissan Onroak Dpi alongside regulars Scott Sharp and Ryan Dalziel at the Extreme Speed Motorsports team for the final round of the IMSA season.
Giovinazzi previously raced for the team in the LMP2 category of the World Endurance Championship in China and Japan two years ago.
The Italian’s latest foray into sportscars comes after his debut at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours, where he finished fifth in category for Ferrari.
“Taking part in the 10 hours of Road Atlanta is a big challenge for me, said Giovinazzi.
“It is one of the most important endurance races in the world and I am very excited to be part of this winning team with a strong driver line-up.”
Petit Le Mans will take place across October 10 to 13, between Formula 1 weekends in Japan and the United States.
The No. 2 ESM entry was victorious at last year’s Petit Le Mans when current Toro Rosso racer Brendon Hartley partnered Sharp and Dalziel.
Giovinazzi has carried out in-season testing for both Ferrari and Sauber this year and participated in FP1 in both Germany and Hungary.
