Lewis Hamilton has said his first day at new Formula 1 employer Ferrari was realising a “dream” and something he’ll “remember forever”.
Hamilton visited Maranello for the first time on Monday as his stint at Ferrari officially got underway.
The seven-time F1 champion, set to partner Monegasque supremo Charles Leclerc this year arrived at Ferrari headquarters to meet with engineers and start his acclimatisation with the famed Scuderia.
It didn’t take long for Hamilton to connect with his 38.5 million Instagram followers to put his reflective thoughts into words.
“There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever and today, my first day at Ferrari, is one of those days,” began a post on his Instagram profile.
“I’ve been lucky enough to have achieved things in my career I never thought possible, but part of me has always held on to that dream of racing in red.
“I couldn’t be happier to realise that dream today.
“Today we start a new era in the history of this iconic team, and I can’t wait to see what story we will write together.”
To cater to the Tifosi, the post caption was also translated into Italian.
The words captioned an image of Hamilton standing outside Ferrari’s historic headquarters and next to an example of the iconic F40.
Hamilton will remain in Maranello for the next few days as he and Leclerc prepare to conduct TPC mileage at Ferrari’s Fiorano test circuit.
