Charouz’s Antonio Fuoco will take a grid penalty into the next round of the Formula 2 season after failing to serve a time sanction in the Sprint Race in Hungary.
Fuoco sustained front wing damage when he struck the rear of Sergio Sette Camara’s Carlin at a Virtual Safety Car restart, and came into the pits for repairs.
During that stop the Ferrari-backed youngster exceeded the pit lane speed limit and he was handed a five-second time penalty, which would typically be added to the overall race time.
Fuoco, though, made a further pit stop, at which he did not serve the five-second time penalty, and he has been issued with a three-place grid demotion for the next round at Spa-Francorchamps.
Fuoco had finished on the podium in the Feature Race and holds sixth place in the championship, 59 points behind title leader George Russell.
