Porsche has confirmed reigning FIA Formula E world champion Pascal Wehrlein will make his 24 Hours of Daytona debut with JDC Miller MotorSports.
The Porsche Formula E driver and 2023-24 world champion will make his event debut with JDC Miller MotorSports.
JDC have been a Porsche customer team since the 2024 IMSA SportsCar Championship season and field the #85 Porsche 963 GTP entrant.
Wehrlein will co-drive the #85 Porsche with Tijmen van der Helm and Bryce Aron for the race.
“I’ve always wanted to drive sports cars – that’s one of my goals as a racing driver,” said Wehrlein.
“Now I have the opportunity to prove myself there too. I’m very happy about that.
“The test drives with JDC-Miller MotorSports in mid-November went well.
“The Porsche 963 reminded me of the DTM cars of my time – I felt comfortable.
“I’m currently recovering from my accident in São Paulo.
“But I want to get back to full speed in January.”
The German first drove the Porsche 963 LMDh car at Sebring in 2022 and gained further experience in last month’s IMSA-sanctioned Daytona test.
A total of four Porsche 963s will enter the 63rd running of Daytona, two factory-backed in partnership with Penske and another customer team in the form of Proton Competition.
Proceedings will commence with the Roar Before the 24 pre-event test from 17-19 January before the main meeting and the race on 25-26 January 2025.
