With the Formula 1 Drivers’ title all but wrapped up, our writers give their verdict on who will seal the Constructors’ Championship between McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull.
Last time out, Max Verstappen practically put the Drivers’ title fight to bed and has the chance to secure his fourth successive championship this weekend in Las Vegas. However, there are still plenty of scores to settle, not least the matter of who will take top billing in the Constructors’ standings.
McLaren leads the way with 593 points, Ferrari is in second with 557 points and Red Bull is in third with 544 points. But how will it play out across the final three races of the season in Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi?

Who will win the F1 Constructors’ Championship?

Ferrari has come on strong with a late assault delivering back-to-back victories in Austin and Mexico, but it will come too late to displace McLaren. The Woking-based squad stemmed Ferrari’s momentum in Brazil as Carlos Sainz crashed out in wet conditions, while the high-speed Lusail International Circuit in Qatar will provide the last blow to the Scuderia’s hopes. The Italian marque should be competitive in Las Vegas to ramp up the anticipation going into the last two rounds, but McLaren, on paper, should attack the season finale in Abu Dhabi with a big enough gap in hand to even have some breathing room as the sun sets on a thrilling campaign.

This one is McLaren’s to lose. A handy 36-point advantage over Ferrari with three rounds remaining, along with two drivers in Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri consistently scoring strong results, means the Scuderia would require a turn of luck to overhaul its deficit. Red Bull will find it hard to finish better than third with Sergio Perez tying one hand behind the team’s back. Either way, a historic entity in McLaren or Ferrari returning to F1 Constructors’ Championship glory is good for the nostalgic fans.

McLaren effectively has a round advantage with three to play, even with Piastri having a tough couple of races in Mexico and São Paulo. Las Vegas might not be best suited to the MCL38, but Lusail looks tailor-made for the car. I think McLaren has enough in hand – and two strong drivers – to get it wrapped up.

I believe McLaren will win the F1 Constructors’ Championship ahead of Ferrari. Piastri’s win in Baku did the damage and with only Verstappen consistently fighting at the top, Red Bull’s chances are pretty much over. However, Ferrari’s recent success has catapulted the Prancing Horse above Red Bull and onto the tail of McLaren. Recent victories have given Ferrari a fighting chance, but I still think it’s not quite enough. The gap is too big, and McLaren is too quick to give up that much of a lead. But as we know, anything can happen in Formula 1.
F1 Reporter – James Phillips
McLaren will take its first Constructors’ championship since 1998, as both Ferrari and Red Bull will fail in Las Vegas to reel it in. Consistency from Norris and Piastri has been the secret ingredient for McLaren’s dramatic increase in competitiveness, securing five wins and 19 podiums going into the final two rounds. While Verstappen’s performances astound and impress, he is effectively Red Bull’s only driver as Perez’s death by slow drowning continues to resemble a movie so bad you cannot look away. Ferrari sadly will not enjoy a competitive enough showing to catch McLaren but will secure second place in the standings.

I’m sitting on the fence slightly, but I think that either McLaren or Ferrari will win the Constructors. Both teams have drivers who are performing well, whilst Red Bull can only rely on Verstappen. It will be close, but I feel that Ferrari might just nab it given its impressive run of results following the Autumn break.
