Ferrari boss Frederic Vasseur has disclosed that the team holds no plans to bring additional upgrades to its 2024 Formula 1 car over the remaining races this season.
The Italian marque’s campaign has been revitalised since an update package split across Italy and Singapore resolved the issues that saw it endure a mid-season dip.
Ferrari’s return to competitiveness delivered consecutive victories in the United States and Mexico last month to elevate the team back into championship contention.
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz collecting one win apiece witnessed Ferrari usurp Red Bull to emerge as McLaren’s nearest challenger going into the closing rounds.
However, Vassuer has divulged that Ferrari will not be able to depend on more revisions to the SF-24 as it strives to end a protracted title drought dating back to 2008.
Asked whether Ferrari still has more new components to come in 2024, Vasseur quipped to media including Motorsport Week: “Lots of new parts after this weekend!
“Now we are focusing on next year’s project for months now and nothing to come.”
Ferrari take damage limitation in Brazil
Ferrari’s championship ambitions experienced a blow in Brazil last weekend as it was unable to replicate the blistering pace that it showed in the previous two rounds.
Leclerc managed to salvage fifth place in a wet race at Interlagos, but Sainz encountered a tumultuous outing as he crashed twice within a few hours to go point-less.
McLaren, though, was unable to capitalise as neither driver could beat Leclerc in the Grand Prix, meaning that Ferrari resides 36 points behind with three rounds to go.
“We knew that the track would be difficult, probably much more for McLaren and at the end of the day on the weekend we didn’t lose so much points,” Vasseur added.
“OK, I don’t want to lose some points, I want to make points and have a better weekend than this weekend.
“But it’s not a drama and we will have probably a much better weekend next race in Vegas.”
Ferrari’s approach remains unchanged
Meanwhile, Vasseur has insisted the heightened discussion surrounding Ferrari’s title prospects will not impact the squad’s approach to taking each race as it comes.
“We have the same approach for months now that we want to be focused race by race because for me it’s the best attitude,” the Frenchman explained.
“Just to be focused on what you can do and not to try to calculate and we keep the same one for the next week.
“Honestly, I can’t remember the classification today, I know the classification but not the points and I want to keep this up.”
