DS Penske has announced its line-up for the historic all-female FIA Formula E test in Valencia next month.
The Franco-American squad has opted for Jessica Edgar and Beitske Visser, both of whom come from all-female pedigree.
Edgar, cousin of fellow racing driver Jonny [who drove for DS in the Berlin rookie test], is in her second season of F1 Academy, having finished 8th in 2023 after four podiums, including victory in the final round in America.
She also finished seventh in the inangural running of the GB4 Championship in 2022.
Visser is a two-time W Series winner, finishing runner-up in the 2019 and 2022. She also competed in the Le Mans 24 Hours twice, as part of Richard Mille Racing, co-driving with fellow FE testers Tatiana Calderon and Sofia Flörsch.
Edgar said she is “grateful for the fantastic opportunity from DS PENSKE to participate in the Valencia Women’s Test,” adding: “It’s a super exciting thought to drive a Formula E car and of course the fact it’s the new GEN3 Evo makes it even more special. I will give it my all!”
Visser shared Edgar’s excitement, saying: “I have always been interested in Formula E and can’t wait to be behind the wheels of the new DS E-TENSE FE25, it is going to be a great experience I’ am sure of it and I really look forward to it!”
Deputy Team Principal Phil Charles said: “With Jessica and Beitske behind the wheel of the DS E-TENSE FE25, our team has two extremely talented drivers signed on for the Women’s Test.
“We have seen both in action in the simulator at our factory and I am really pleased we are able to give them an opportunity to demonstrate their considerable pace and ability in the Formula E car. I am also sure we will get some good test results for the team as well.”
