Sean Gelael is set to make further Formula 1 test appearances for Toro Rosso during mid-season running in 2018.
Formula 2 racer Gelael linked up with Toro Rosso last year, piloting the squad’s contemporary car during four practice sessions at Grands Prix, and also participated in three test days.
Toro Rosso confirmed on Wednesday that the Indonesian driver will sample the STR13 during this year’s in-season tests, which will be held in Spain and Hungary.
Under Formula 1 regulations, each team must allocate half of their four in-season test days to drivers who have started two or fewer Grands Prix.
Gelael, who holds the role of test and development driver for Toro Rosso, has raced in Formula 1’s feeder series since mid-2015.
He holds eighth place in this year’s Formula 2 championship, which began in Bahrain last weekend, having finished 15th in each of the last two seasons.
