Jake Dixon secured victory during the 2024 Aragon Moto2 Grand Prix as part of the 12th round in the 2024 schedule.
The British rider converted his pole position into his second win of the year as he withstood great pressure all throughout the 19-lap race.
At lights out, Dixon kept his pole position but only narrowly ahead of Tony Arbolino who took second place from Diogo Moreira.
Aron Canet had a disastrous start having not been able to take opportunity of his front row grid spot, although it was SpeedUp Racing’s Fermin Aldeguer who asserted a brilliant getaway.
The Spaniard started 11th yet quickly climbed to second before falling back one position on his Boscoscuro bike, before settling in fifth ahead of his teammate Alonso Lopez.
Arbolino kept Dixon under pressure in the battle for the lead with the pair setting similar lap times.
Italtrans Racing Team rider Moreira was equally under the spotlight as he fended off Lopez, though not before the Spaniard overtook the Italian into third place.
The lead fight continued to heat up between Dixon and Arbolino who were in a different league in terms of lap times, having distanced themselves at 2.5 seconds on Lopez with six laps remaining.
KTM Ajo’s Deniz Oncu made his move into third place with five laps to go after keeping the chase up on Lopez for the final spot on the podium.
Dixon kept up the pace in the 1-minute 52-margin on lap times and so in the final two laps, he managed to crawl away from Arbolino and secure his second victory of the 2024 season.
As Arbolino took second, Oncu claimed third in the #53 bike.
Lopez finished in fourth position ahead of Manuel Gonzalez and Somkiat Chantra.
Seventh position was taken by Marcos Ramirez ahead of Ai Ogura, and Darryn Binder.
Celestino Vietti rounded out the top-10 finishers for the Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP team.
