Alpine have launched a special livery design for this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps.
Revealed on the team’s social media pages, the cars will race in a red and black colour scheme, with additional yellow claw marks. The design is is a nod to the Deadpool & Wolverine film, which stars Ryan Reynolds. The Hollywood star was part the group of investors who plunged €200m into the French outfit last year, acquiring a 24 percent stake in the process.
The team will be hoping that the livery will be a good omen as they look to bounce back in Spa, having endured a torrid weekend in Hungary last weekend.
After strategic blunders cost Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon in qualifying – leaving both drivers rooted to the back row of the grid – Gasly would retire on lap 33 with a hydraulics problem. Ocon would finish the race, but in 18th place.
