Carlos Sainz produced the quickest lap time in the first practice session as proceedings began under scorching temperatures at Formula 1’s Hungarian Grand Prix.
The Spaniard posted a 1:18.713s to produce the fastest lap in the opening session, enough to give him a 0.276s gap over Max Verstappen in the updated Red Bull.
Charles Leclerc slotted the second Ferrari into third place on the timesheets, with George Russell’s Mercedes and Zhou Guanyu completing the top five for Sauber.
The two McLaren drivers came next with Lando Norris heading Oscar Piastri in sixth and seventh, with Yuki Tsunoda, Lance Stroll and Lewis Hamilton in the top 10.
