MotoGP Tech3 KTM boss Herve Poncharal has stated Maverick Viñales and Enea Bastianini will see the outfit have “two number ones” riders for the first time in 2025.
The announcement arrived last week that the French outfit has snapped up Vinales from Aprilia, while ousted Ducati rider Bastianini will come in alongside the Italian.
Tech3 will return to an orange colour scheme in 2025, dispelling the interpretation that GasGas at present was there to act as a second squad to the senior KTM team.
Pedro Acosta has earned a promotion to the works KTM team amid a strong opening to his debut MotoGP campaign which has seen him achieve four podium results.
Poncharal is excited about the team’s revised 2025 line-up, but he admits that Acosta has been an integral part in enticing Vinales and Bastianini to Tech3’s ambitions.
“2024 is already shaping up to be a dream for Tech3,” Poncharal told Speedweek.
“Thanks to Pedro, we have been able to show our strength and accelerate the entire project together, around the RC16.
“We have reached a new stage. There will be a bit of melancholy for not having Pedro in our garage anymore, but we will have a team that never we have had in our history.
“We have always had very good riders, and I still have great respect for each and every one of them.
“But we have never seen this association of two leading riders, winners in MotoGP, with us. We will have two number ones in 2025.”
Vinales delivered a historic feat earlier this season at the Americas Grand Prix with Aprilia to become the first rider to win with three different manufacturers in Moto GP.
Meanwhile, Bastianini has recovered from past setbacks to log three podiums this season to sit fourth in the championship, though that was not enough to save his seat.
