On Sunday the factory Ducati squad will unveil its special livery at Mugello for its home Grand Prix, with the Desmosedici GP24 bike livery turning from red to Azzurro (light blue).
Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini will wear Azzurro colours, and the rest of the team will be present at the race weekend in the same iconic blue.
The new-looking livery for Sunday is the same colours the Italian National Teams use in sports such as football, with the livery having blue, white and gold elements.
Mauro Grassilli of Ducati Corse Sports (Marketing and Communications Director) stated: “The Nazionali Azzurre give emotions to millions of Italians, and we feel we do the same during race weekends, representing our country on circuits around the world.
“On the occasion of our home Grand Prix at Mugello, we have therefore chosen to create a link between the Red passion that distinguishes us on track and the Azzurro colour that unites us in our love for the sport.”
Italian fans have plenty of sport to look forward to this summer with the European Championships kicking off in June, before the Olympic and Paralympic Games commencing in late July.
However, this weekend is all about the thundering MotoGP field roaring through the iconic Mugello circuit and the Italian crowd will be looking to the factory Ducati team to bag victory.
Understandably, Bagnaia and Bastianini can’t wait to get the Italian GP underway.
“Racing at Mugello is always an indescribable emotion, and being able to count on the warmth of all the Italian fans and Ducatisti on the track makes this event even more incredible,” said Bagnaia.
“The two victories obtained here in the last two years have been more beautiful than the other, and I dream of being able to do it again this year.
“Our Sunday at the Italian GP will be even more special as we will wear the same colours as the national team! I’m excited and can’t wait to get on the track!”
After a pointless GP in Barcelona, Bastianini said “I will do my best to fight for a good result and give a great show to all my fans and Ducatisti, who will be at Mugello this weekend.”
