Pirelli will have seven slick tyre compounds available in Formula 1 next season, after confirming the introduction of two new compounds.
Pirelli expanded its range from four to five in 2016, and has now taken a further step by introducing the Hypersoft and Superhard tyres.
The Hypersoft will be pink-banded, and received its name after an online poll, with the option garnering a 62 per cent share of the vote.
Meanwhile, Pirelli has introduced a Superhard compound, created as an insurance policy, amid its more aggressive stance for 2018, having taken a conservative approach this season.
The Superhard will be orange-banded, and as a result the Hard tyre will take on a new ‘ice blue’ scheme for 2018.
As with this year’s regulations, three compounds will be selected at each Grands Prix.
The Intermediate and Wet tyres remain unchanged in colour, though Pirelli confirmed that they will benefit from some technical improvements for 2018.
The finalised compounds will be tested for the first time at Yas Marina on Tuesday, with all 10 teams set to be present for a two-day tyre test.
