Maria de Villota's family have reached an agreement with the Manor F1 Team following her accident during a straight-line test in 2012, when the outfit was known as Marussia.
De Villota was returning to the temporary pit area when she struck a lowered transporter tailgate, her helmet making direct contact. The Spaniard sustained serious trauma to her head and was left blinded in her right eye.
Although De Villota remained involved with motorsport, she passed away a year after the crash, with a post-mortem examination linking her death to the neurological injuries she suffered in the crash.
On Wednesday – the fourth anniversary of her passing – her family confirmed that an agreement had been reached with Manor and therefore legal proceedings had come to an end.
"It was a tragic accident which shocked the team and all who knew her – she is sorely missed," a Manor spokesperson commented.
Her family, through UK law firm Slater and Gordon, said they would now "focus" on 'Maria's Legacy', "to give continuity to Maria's solidarity programmes focusing primarily on children with neurodegenerative diseases and people with limited financial resources."
