Dale Coyne Racing has confirmed that Jack Harvey will be driving for the team in the Grand Prix of Long Beach IndyCar race this weekend.
The Briton had been expecting to travel to California in a supporting role for DCR, and was pleased to be asked to take up driving duties at the last minute.
Harvey had previously only been confirmed as a driver for 14 of the 17 events on the 2024 calendar, with Nolan Siegel stepping in for the remaining races, including the race on the Long Beach street course.
Siegel, who is contesting a full season in the IndyNXT feeder series with HMD Motorsports, will still race in the #18 in Long Beach as planned, thus carrying the car with the team’s major sponsorship.
Harvey will fill the opening in the team’s #51 entry for the race this next weekend, then is expected to return to the other car for Barber Motorsports Park.
The opportunity gives Harvey an additional chance to pull himself back into the correct side of the results table.
A two year stint with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing ended prematurely last season when he was released with just three races left in the year. Up to that point, he had only scored one top 10 finish in his time with the team.
This additional outing with DCR gives the 30-year-old, whose birthday coincided with the latest announcement on Monday, another weekend to put his talents on display.
Practice for the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach get underway on Friday afternoon, with the 85-lap race taking place Sunday at 3:30 PM Eastern Time.
