Red Bull drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen, along with Toro Rosso counterpart Carlos Sainz Jr., will drop down the grid at this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix due to engine sanctions.
Ricciardo has a 20-place demotion, Verstappen a 15-place relegation and Sainz Jr. a 10-place penalty after new power unit components were fitted to their respective cars.
Ricciardo has taken on a sixth MGU-H, fifth Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and fifth Turbocharger, while Verstappen is on to his fifth ICE and fifth MGU-H.
Sainz Jr. is also on to his fifth MGU-H, the first time this year that he has received an engine-related grid penalty.
The trio join McLaren’s Fernando Alonso in the penalty stakes, with the Spaniard copping a 35-place grid drop after a multitude of changes.
