The opening round of the 2024 Formula 1 season, held in Bahrain, is breaking formality with the Grand Prix taking place on Saturday.
Racing is normally reserved for Sundays, but due to the holy month of Ramadan commencing on Sunday, March 10, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, round 2 of the 2024 season, must take place on Saturday, March 9 and with a week gap mandated between Grands Prix, Bahrain’s schedule is also affected.
The net result is that proceedings at the Bahrain International Circuit shall begin with Free Practice 1, commencing at 14:30 local time (11:30 GMT) on Thursday.
Free Practice 2 continues the F1 action at 18:00 local time (15:00 GMT) on Thursday afternoon.
That makes Friday, Qualifying day and action resumes with Free Practice 3 at 15:30 local time (12:30 GMT) ahead of Qualifying at 19:00 local time (16:00 GMT).
Finally, Saturday’s Grand Prix goes to green at 18:00 local time (15:00 GMT).
