FIA Formula E has announced the track layout to be used in the series’ first visit to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on the 13th-14th April.
The Italian round of the Championship has left the streets of Rome and has moved to the purpose-built circuit near the city of Rimini, which has played host to MotoGP races for the last 17 years. It is one of only three non-street circuits on the season 10 calendar.
The circuit, named after the late MotoGP rider Marco Simoncelli, was opened 52 years ago and has hosted races for a myriad of motorbike, GT and junior single-seater racing series.
Formula E have said in their official statement that “the circuit will run to 3.381km with 14 turns and clockwise, infield at Turns 1, 2, 3 and 4 before returning to the GP layout down towards what will be Turn 5 and the Turn 7 hairpin.
“A high-speed straight follows into a sharp left-right at Turns 8 and 9 before another fast sprint around the complex at the back of the circuit before hooking back through Turn 14 onto the home straight.”
“The paddock area, featuring the garages where teams and drivers prepare the GEN3 race cars and plan racing strategy, will be located in the circuit’s purpose-built paddock and pit-lane.”
