The FIA World Endurance Championship’s pre-season testing event, named the Prologue, has been delayed by two days due to freight shipping issues in the Middle East.
The Prologue was originally intended to take place this Saturday, 24th February, and Sunday 25th at the Qatar Lusail International Circuit, which will also hold the first race of the season, the Qatar 1812km, next weekend.
However, as WEC uses shipping to move its freight around the world, rather than air freight, the issues in the Suez Canal and Red Sea region has meant some of the freight, including a number of cars, has to arrive at the circuit.
Consequently, the WEC’s organisers have pushed back the Prologue, to Monday 26th February and Tuesday 27th.
The morning session on Monday will start 8:30am local time, until 12pm. There will be a 2 hour break, then another session from 2pm-5pm, then a night-time running session at 6:30pm-10pm. The final session will take place on Tuesday, running from 9am-1pm.
The 1812km Qatar schedule has not changed, with the race set to begin Saturday 2nd March at 11am local time.
