Sauber’s 2017 Formula 1 car, the C36-Ferrari, will take to the track for the first time at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on February 22nd, the team has confirmed to Motorsport Week.
Sauber will conduct a filming day at the home of the Spanish Grand Prix, a few days before official pre-season group testing begins at the same venue.
Under Formula 1 regulations, each team is permitted two filming days per year, with running restricted to 100km, during which Pirelli’s promotional tyres must be used.
Sauber also intends to conduct a formal launch for its C36-Ferrari, which will be fitted with a 2016-specification power unit, but these plans have not yet been finalised.
Sauber finished 10th in last year’s constructors’ championship, with its 2016 car missing the first test, owning to a late calendar shuffle.
The Swiss team has retained Marcus Ericsson for a third campaign, while Mercedes protégé Pascal Wehrlein has joined from Manor.
Pre-season testing takes place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from February 27th to March 2nd, and from March 7th to March 10th.
