Lewis Hamilton's former team-mate Jenson Button believes a championship victory for the Mercedes driver this year would be his best yet, given how unlucky he has been with reliability compared to team-mate Nico Rosberg.
Hamilton has had three power units fail him this season, whilst Rosberg has enjoyed bullet-proof reliability on the power unit side of things, and although the gap between them stands at just 23 points – less than a race victory – the three-time champion should have many more according to Button.
Therefore a title win, against all the odds, will taste all the more sweeter for the 31-year-old.
"Lewis has been really unfortunate," he told the Guardian. "He should have so many more points than he has. But if he wins the world championship this year, it means so much more, because he’s had some really tough races.
"I think he’ll put it down as his best championship if he wins. He’s been bloody unlucky, and that’s exactly what it is."
