Jean-Eric Vergne set the pace for the new Techeetah team on the opening day of the second 2016/2017 pre-season test.
The Frenchman, who switches to Techeetah from DS Virgin Racing, put in a 1m29.640 to end the day at the top of the timesheets.
He was just 0.006 seconds off his own Donington Park Formula E lap record, which was set during the first Formula E test last month.
Virgin’s Sam Bird was second fastest, three tenths further back, ahead of Nicolas Prost and Jerome d’Ambrosio for Renault e.dams and Faraday Future Dragon Racing respectively.
Reigning champion Sebastien Buemi was next up, with Daniel Abt sixth and Adam Carroll seventh for the new Jaguar Racing team.
Carroll and fellow tester Mitch Evans – who gets three days of running with the team – are favourites for the two Jaguar race seats.
Jose Maria Lopez topped the morning session with a 1m34.501 but got that down to a 1m30.852 as conditions improved in the afternoon to finish eighth.
Nick Heidfeld and Ma Qing Hua rounded out the top 10, just ahead of Lucas di Grassi, Stephane Sarrazin, Antonio Felix da Costa and Evans.
Running was disrupted by several red flags due to debris and gravel on the track, but there were a few off-track excursions too.
