Nico Rosberg has said that his race start, where he took the lead from second place on the grid, was crucial to his Italian Grand Prix victory.
While Rosberg led at the first chicane of the Monza race his pole-sitting team-mate Lewis Hamilton dropped to sixth place after a poor getaway, and was only able to recover to second place behind Rosberg at the end, some 15 seconds adrift.
And Rosberg afterwards said that the first part at least was vital to his win: "The start was the big opportunity," he said.
"That worked out fantastically, because we had the soft [tyre compound] and the Ferraris had the supersoft, so they had a bit more grip. But it worked out great.
"That gave me the race win in the end, because from then on I was able to control the pace, at a good speed."
Rosberg added though that even with Hamilton's vast qualifying advantage, he always was confident in his race pace, based on the Friday practice running.
"When we were practicing for the race on Friday I was looking really strong," he said.
"I felt really good. I knew I had a chance to push Lewis in the race whether he was in front or behind me, that I had a chance to win.
"I confirmed that today of course."
