Rio Haryanto has accepted Manor's reserve role offer after he lost his race seat to Esteban Ocon on Wednesday.
The Indonesian racer joined the team at the start of the season with a financial package in place for the first ten races, meaning he would be without a seat after the British Grand Prix if his backers failed to inject more cash into the team.
That money failed to materialise and Manor offered his seat to reserve driver Alexander Rossi for Hungary onwards. However the American turned the offer down, choosing to instead focus on IndyCar following his recent shock Indy 500 victory.
Haryanto was therefore given an additional two races (Hungary and Germany) to secure his future. On Wednesday, the team announced that his contract had been terminated and Renault's Ocon would take up his seat alongside Pascal Wehrlein for the remainder of the season.
Manor did however offer Haryanto a reserve role, which the team confirmed had been accepted.
"Manor Racing is pleased to announce that Rio Haryanto will remain with the team for the rest of the season, having accepted its offer of a Reserve Driver role," confirmed a statement.
"Rio will be available to deputise should either race driver be unable to take part in an event. He will also be immersed in engineering meetings and PR activities, as the team continues its support for his racing ambitions."
