Ferrari have confirmed that Kimi Raikkonen will continue to partner team-mate Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari next season, having agreed a one-year extension to his current contract.
Next year will mark Raikkonen's seventh year with Ferrari, having raced for the Italian outfit between 2007 and 2009, winning the title in his first year, before taking a two year break to join Lotus in 2012. He rejoined Ferrari in 2014 and finished a best 4th in the championship during his second stint with the team last year.
"Scuderia Ferrari announces that it has renewed its technical and racing agreement with Kimi Raikkonen," confirmed a statement.
"The driver line-up for the 2017 racing season will still consist of the Finnish driver and Sebastian Vettel."
On Thursday, Raikkonen reiterated his belief that Ferrari is the best team in Formula 1 and expressed his desire to see the team back on the top step of the podium.
This is the best team in F1, together we won a title in 2007, we had good years and some difficult ones.
"I’m really happy to be part of Ferrari, the atmosphere is fantastic, we are always pushing each other forward and hopefully we’ll get the team back where it belongs."
