Max Verstappen has revealed his plans for his own GT3 team, to race in 2025 in an undisclosed series with a two-car effort.
The two-time F1 world champion told Formule1.de magazine in an exclusive interview that the project is “still somewhat in its infancy.” Named ‘Verstappen.com Racing’, the team aims to “sponsor and support various racing activities of people close to me,” said Verstappen.
The project, the Dutchman continued, all started with his well-known exploits in sim racing, and the Team Redline project he has been affiliated with for many years.
In addition, Verstappen.com Racing is already running cars in championships this year.
“In addition, with Verstappen.com Racing we are now also active with Thierry Vermeulen in DTM and GTWC Sprint and with my father in rallying, but the ultimate goal is to set up our own racing team,” said Verstappen.
“We will start in the GT3 class and then we will see where the ship strands at some point.”
A fellow Dutchman, Vermeulen has been racing in DTM this year, in partnership with Emil Frey Racing, running a Ferrari 296 GT3. He has scored 1 point in six races, sitting in 27th position in the championship. Additionally, the 20-year-old has been racing in the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup series, scoring 15 points, seventh in the championship.
His manager, Raymond, is also Verstappen’s manager, explaining the link between the two drivers.
But regarding a timeline to have the new team fully operational, Verstappen is being ambitious.
“The next step is our own GT3 team,” he said.
“Next year is pretty tight, but I want it as soon as possible. A GT3 team in 2025, that should fit. With at least two cars.”
