The IMSA-sanctioned test at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway has 22 entries across the GTP, LMP2, LMP3, GTD-Pro and GTD classes.
The Indy Test will take place on 27-28 July next week, before the IMSA series returns to racing action at Road America with all five classes back in action.
A list of 22 cars will negotiate the Road Course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indiana along with a selection of Michelin Pilot Challenge-entered cars, in preparation for IMSA’s first race at IMS since the championship’s inaugural 2014 season, on 15-17 September.
The 2014 Brickyard Grand Prix was a 2-hour and 45-minute race won by Action Express Racing drivers João Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi in their #5 Coyote Corvette Daytona Prototype (DP). This year, selected entries across the grid will have either two or three drivers participating in each car.
GTP – 9 entries
All GTP cars from the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will be represented ahead of preparations including on-track testing and monitoring the performance level across the class. The #01 Cadillac Racing V Series.R will be piloted by Sebastien Bourdais and Renger van der Zande, as the other #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac will have Pipo Derani and Alexander Sims behind the wheel.
The #6 and #7 Penske Porsche Motorsport cars, along with the #5 JDC Miller MotorSports privateer outfit, will take on the test utilising their Porsche 963s. Furthermore, the #10 Konica Minolta Acura and #60 Meyer Shank Racing team’s Acura ARX-06 will partake.
BMW Team RLL will field their #24 and #25 M Hybrid V8 GTPs to round off the top class.
LMP2 – 3 entries & LMP3 – 2 entries
Three Oreca 07-Gibsons will take part in the test from teams Crowdstrike Racing by APR, TDS Racing and Era Motorsport.
In LMP3, two Duqueine D08s will be entered by AWA. The #13 will be driven by Orey Fidani and Matthew Bell whilst the #17 is set for Anthony Mantella and Wayne Boyd.
GTD-Pro – 1 entry & GTD – 7 entries.
GTD-Pro will have solely the #14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 driven by Jack Hawksworth and Ben Barnicoat; the team will also field their #12 sister Lexus in GTD.
Six manufacturers will be represented across GTD’s seven cars: Aston Martin, BMW, Lamborghini, Lexus, and Porsche. The #32 Team Korthoff Motorsport are yet to confirm their drivers for this test. Leader of the GTD Endurance and Sprint Cup standings, Paul Miller Racing, will have their #1 BMW M4 GT3 driven by their star drivers Madison Snow and Bryan Sellers.
Only the #14 and the #80 ‘Rexy’ AO Racing Porsche 992 GT3 R will make use of a trio of drivers in their participation.
IMSA is back in action this weekend, with the GTD-Pro and GTD classes racing at Lime Rock Park for the Northeast Grand Prix (21-22 July). GTP will be back racing on the 3-6 August for the IMSA Sportscar Weekend at Road America.
