Adrain Newey looks set to commit his future to the Red Bull team after reports in the German media, stating he won’t take up the option to leave the team at the end of 2010 have been confirmed by the Christian Horner.
“Contractual matters are confidential, but [the report] is true,” said Horner.
“Last year, Adrian requested to remove a clause that would have ended his contract this year.”
The engineer, hailed as a genius of design, has previously worked in IndyCar, CART and F1 with March, Williams and McLaren.
He joined Red Bull in 2006 and has steadily improved the teams ability to race at the front of the grid, 2009 being the breakthrough year which saw the team take second in the constructors and drivers championships.
Red Bull currently lead the 2010 championships too.
