IMSA will conduct a group test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for its WeatherTech Sportscar Championship series at the end of this month, the sanctioning body has announced.
The test will take place on Friday 28th July and Saturday 29th July, for the GTP, LMP2, GTD Pro, and GTD classes. A group of 22 entries are anticipated from the four classes, and they will be joined by 11 expected entries from the Michelin Pilot Challenge Series, from the TCR and GT4 classes.
This will take place ahead of the ‘Battle on the Bricks’, the 2 hour 40 minute IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship race, taking place on 17th September on the IMS Road Course. The headline race will take place on the Sunday 17th, with the Michelin Pilot Challenge race taking place a day beforehand.
This is a return to Indianapolis Motor Speedway after a nine-year absence for IMSA.
The test will take place from 9am-6pm ET on both the Friday and Saturday, following the Northeast Grand Prix for the GTD Pro and GTD classes at Lime Rock Park this coming weekend.
