Max Verstappen has secured his fifth consecutive pole in Formula 1 by topping the times in qualifying at the British Grand Prix.
The Dutchman’s best effort put him 0.2s clear of the chasing pack, led by McLaren’s Lando Norris
However, for the fifth consecutive race weekend, Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez failed to progress into Q3.
But unlike the previous four qualifying sessions, this time the Mexican driver dropped out in the first segment and will line up 16th at best for tomorrow’s race.
Norris claimed a spot on the front row alongside Verstappen, with the second McLaren of Oscar Piastri one place further back.
The two Ferraris were next – Leclerc ahead of Sainz – followed by the two Mercedes cars.
Alex Albon was unable to repeat his earlier practice exploits but still managed to claim a starting berth inside the top 10 for Williams’ home grand prix.
