Max Verstappen will start on pole for the 2023 Canadian Grand Prix after setting the fastest lap in qualifying with a 1:25.858.
Nico Hulkenberg took a shock front row as the rain intensified during a red flag spell in Q3. Fernando Alonso will start from third.

Alex Albon and Williams made the correct call to run soft tyres early in Q2 to advance to the final session at the top of the leaderboard. However, for the second consecutive weekend, Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc both failed to make Q3.
Oscar Piastri crashed in Q3, bringing out a red flag which stopped the clock with just over 7 minutes remaining. The session did get back underway, but by which time the rain had intensified, making it incredibly difficult for drivers to improve.
The timing of the red flag meant that Verstappen’s benchmark of 1:25.858 was unmatchable, but also granted a first front row start for Haas with Nico Hulkenberg.
