IndyCar returned to the streets of Detroit this past weekend for a race around downtown and the iconic GM Renaissance Center.

The track was bumpy and very tough for drivers to master, but Alex Palou completed the job from pole to take victory at the first race of the new layout.
Will Power had the best shot at earning the win for Chevrolet in the manufacturer’s home race, but ultimately was not able to compete with the pace that Palou’s Chip Ganassi Racing Honda put up.
There were multiple incidents that interrupted the race, but all involved only one or two cars. There was not the major stack-ups that some had feared would plague the tight street course.
Drivers will get a one week break before heading to Road America to tackle the historic road course.
