Two new directors have been appointed to the board of the Lotus F1 Team following Renault’s takeover of the Enstone based Formula 1 team.
No formal name change has taken place, therefore the team continues to be known as Lotus, though its expected that will change before the season begins in March or more likely earlier.
Renault Sport boss Cyril Abiteboul – who currently heads up the engine department – has been made a director of the team alongside Renault’s director of financial operations, Thierry Cognet.
They replace Genii’s Eric Lux – who alongside Gerard Lopez retain a 10 per cent stake in the team – and former investor Andrew Ruhan.
Whilst their appointments happened in mid-December, paperwork confirming the change has only just been made public.
Renault are due to announce more detailed information in late-January to early-February.
