Sauber team principal Monisha Kaltenborn has branded Pastor Maldonado ‘very annoying’ due to the frequency with which he’s involved in incidents on track.
The Lotus driver was hit with a five-second penalty at the latest race in Brazil after he made contact with Marcus Ericsson at Turn 1, forcing the Swede to make an unscheduled pit stop.
“Marcus’ car was clearly in front of him and he literally just drives into him,” Kaltenborn told Autosport.
“What should one say? It’s not the first time he has been involved in such an incident.
“It’s very, very annoying that it is once again him,” she added. “It’s very frustrating.
“Marcus was driving well, having recovered from a mistake at the start when he ran wide, and then Maldonado just dived down the inside and clipped him.”
The Venezuelan famously made contact with Sauber’s Esteban Gutierrez at the 2014 Bahrain GP, causing the Mexican’s car to flip over.
