A number of Formula 1 drivers and teams have voiced their support for the decision to call off the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix weekend.

The announcement was made on Wednesday afternoon, two days before the first on-track session was due to be held.

Adverse weather conditions have struck the area in recent days, leading to severe flooding in the region.

Multiple fatalities have been reported while thousands of people have been forced to evacuate their homes.

Following confirmation that the event from Imola would not take place, drivers and teams took to social media to voice support for the decision as well as sympathy for those affected in the region.
