Lewis Hamilton took his ninth pole position of the season after dominating qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Hamilton’s pole was also the 47th of his career and his fifth in Hungary.
The Briton will start ahead of team-mate Nico Rosberg after beating the German by more than half a second, leading to a dejected Rosberg who offered up no explanation for the difference in pace.
Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel starts third ahead of Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo, with Kimi Raikkonen fifth.
McLaren were looking to get both cars through to Q3, but Jenson Button failed to even escape Q1, whilst Fernando Alonso had to settle for 15th when his MP4-30 stopped at the final corner.
