Round three of the 2023 Formula 1 season sees the sport head to Melbourne, with Albert Park being the home of the Australian Grand Prix since 1996.
There are a number of car upgrades that have been brought to the event, however not as much as traditionally seen at other weekends.
A key reason for this is that the race’s location is far away from the bases in Europe, while there is also less value in bringing upgrades to a street-style circuit.
Red Bull, who has cruised to victory at the opening two rounds of the season, has brought updates to the front wing and the front wing endplate.
The reigning World Champions has also made changes to the rear wheel bodywork around the side of the rear tyre to improve cooling.
Mercedes, meanwhile, has added vanes to the floor edge to improve airflow to the rear floor and diffuser.
Ferrari, who has won three of the last four races in Australia, has not arrived in Melbourne with a single update. This is the same case for Aston Martin, who currently sit second in the Constructors’ Championship, and Haas who broke into the points last time out in Jeddah.
The Enstone-based Alpine team has revised details on the Halo fairing to improve airflow, while McLaren has a smaller engine cover due to less cooling needed in Melbourne compared to previous rounds, and it has also introduced a modified floor fence which will result in “different aerodynamic characteristics”.
Alfa Romeo has introduced a trio of updated components, with this being a reprofiled nose and front wing as well as a new mirror stay in the sidepod area.
A number of floor changes have been implemented at AlphaTauri, including the floor body, the floor fences and the edge of the component. In addition, a diffuser modification is also listed.
Finally, the Williams F1 team has options with its front wing for the weekend, detailing that a trim of the flaps is available with required. An additional flow control device has been added to the rear wing endplate.
