Red Bull Managing Director Oliver Mintzlaff has asserted that Max Verstappen “owes a lot” to the team amid revitalised speculation about his prospects in Formula 1.
Verstappen is contracted to Red Bull through 2028, but the team’s inconsistent start to this season has triggered internal concern an exit clause could become active.
The Dutchman has long been connected with a possible move to Mercedes, though boss Toto Wolff has suggested that he is committed to the side’s existing line-up.
However, Aston Martin has also emerged as a potential destination amid a report that it would be willing to sanction a £226m bid to attract the reigning F1 champion.

But with Verstappen insisting that he hasn’t given thought to a switch elsewhere, Minztlaff has proclaimed that he isn’t concerned about a departure as soon as 2026.
‘We are all dissatisfied with the current situation,’ Mintzlaff told BILD. “Nobody is trying to cover that up.
“However, I am convinced that he will continue down the long road he has taken with Red Bull so far. Max will also be driving with us in 2026.”
Verstappen ‘owes a lot to Red Bull’
Verstappen’s entire F1 career to date has been spent embedded in the Red Bull environment, during which time he has secured four successive titles and 64 victories.
Mintzlaff is convinced the extensive relationship between the two parties will ensure Verstappen delivers on his intention to remain at Red Bull until he exits the sport.
“On the one hand, he has signed until the end of 2028 for a reason, and on the other he has taken a clear stance recently,” the German added.
“Max once told me that he started his career at Red Bull and would like to end it here too. As far as I know, nothing has changed at this point.
“We have benefited a lot from Max being the best driver in the world. The truth is also that he owes a lot to Red Bull.
“Of course we are in a difficult phase at the moment, but I don’t feel that Max is doubting us.”
Mintzlaff has insisted that Red Bull getting on terms with McLaren to help Verstappen retain the title will be dependent on the side operating on the same wavelength.
“As long as he understands that we want to build the best car in the world, he will pull together with us,” he outlined.
“That’s the only way we can be successful again and we will. A long-term partnership also includes staying together in difficult times.”
