Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced a unique appointment on Wednesday, naming Rob Gronkowski as the Grand Marshal of the 2025 Indianapolis 500 Snake Pit.
Gronkowski is an accomplished American football player and is often cited as one of the best tights ends in the sport’s history.
He won four Super Bowl championships and has become an analyst for the NFL with Fox Sports following his retirement in 2022.
Gronk, as he has been nicknamed, will attend his first Indy 500 this May as a representative of the famous Snake Pit.
The infield stage hosts musical acts throughout the duration of the Indy 500, and is known for its party atmosphere where fans only tangentially follow the actual racing taking place around them.
Gronkowski is also known to participate in parties and enjoys riling up a crowd, which makes him a fitting candidate for the special Snake Pit appointment.
“I can’t wait for this year’s Indianapolis 500 on FOX,” Gronkowski said. “Not only do I get to attend my first-ever Indy 500, I’ll do it in style as the grand marshal of the legendary Indy 500 Coors Light Snake Pit.
“This is one of the coolest combinations of sports and music out there and in the ultimate venue. I’m ready to get the party started and celebrate the biggest race in the world.”
Dance producer Illenium will headline a group of well-known electronic music artists at this year’s Snake Pit, with Sammy Virji, Two Friends, Kayzo and Oliver Heldens also joining in.
The concerts will take place all throughout race day, with more than 20,000 people expected to fill the infield grass area and take in the music.
The 109th Indianapolis 500 will be run on May 25, when Josef Newgarden will attempt to win the event for a third consecutive time.
