Saturday’s qualifying for IndyCar’s Grand Prix of Long Beach was an exciting affair that saw Andretti Global flex its muscles on the street course.
Kyle Kirkwood was fastest overall, logging a time of 1:06.1921 and securing his second Long Beach pole.
His Andretti team-mate Colton Herta overcame a broken toe link and a drive through penalty to qualify in second. The third Andretti driver Marcus Ericsson earned the fifth starting position.

For the second race in a row, Team Penske had a qualifying day to forget. This time around Scott McLaughlin advanced to the final round and earned the sixth grid position, but his two team-mates were both knocked out in the first round.
Frustration has to be mounting in the Penske camp, where the entire group expects to be at the head of the field every weekend.
Christian Lundgaard was set to advance to the Fast 6, but a late mistake in the second round pushed his Arrow McLaren Chevy into the tire barriers and dropped him to 12th on the grid.
Drivers will take to the track again on Sunday, with coverage of the 90-lap race beginning at 12:30 PM local time, 4:30PM eastern time.
