Four-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Yannick Dalmas will lead the 62-car grid for this year’s race start on Saturday 14 June.
The Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) govern motor racing events at the Circuit de la Sarthe including the famous 24-hour car race and have selected Dalmas as the Grand Marshal who will lead the grid at the start of the twice-round-the-clock event on 14-15 June.
Dalmas is well-recognised for his quadrant of Le Mans victories with four different manufacturers: Peugeot in 1992, Porsche in 1994, McLaren in 1995 and BMW in 1999.
The ex-Formula 1 driver is currently a race advisor and one of the safety car drivers in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
The ACO has also announced this year’s recipient of the Spirit of Le Mans Trophy – Francois Perrodo.
Perrodo is a notable amateur racing driver in sportscar racing with three WEC titles in the former LMGTE Am category.
This included a Le Mans class win in 2021 combined with a more recent LMP2 Pro-Am victory at Le Mans last year – ahead of his upcoming 13th Le Mans start.
Pierre Fillon, President of the ACO, said: “We are delighted to pay tribute to Yannick Dalmas and Francois Perrodo at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
“Yannick Dalmas is an endurance racing legend who has won Le Mans four times, with four different manufacturers.
“His track record and his ongoing commitment made him the ideal candidate to be Grand Marshal this year.
“Francois Perrodo represents the Spirit of Le Mans to perfection.
“A champion amateur driver, he radiates enthusiasm, and his sense of commitment is a real strength in this discipline.
“We are proud to celebrate their contribution to endurance racing this year.”
