The Homestead-Miami Speedway will have a temporary chicane in its infield circuit for the forthcoming Miami E-Prix, Formula E’s first visit to the city since its inaugural season.
A map of the circuit released by Formula E earlier this week shows that the in around the final third of the lap, after Turn 9 – where the track rejoins the surrounding oval – a left-right chicane will be installed.
Approximately equidistant between 9 and 12, where the cars will turn left back into the infield complex, where drivers will navigate three more turns before completing the lap, back onto the start-finish straight where it rejoins the oval again.
The anti-clockwise circuit sees Turn 1 completed just before the pitlane exit, with the next three corners providing the tightest and twistiest part.
After the start-finish straight, the next two fastest parts of the course are two straights between Turns 5 and 6, and Turns 7 and 8.
The end of both of these straights may provide the most logical spot for where Attack Mode could be positioned.

2.3 miles in length, the circuit is the longest on the Season 10 calendar, around a third of a mile longer than the second-longest, which is Monaco.
This means that regen braking is a necessity, and the chicane’s inclusion is paramount to reducing what will already likely be a peloton style race.
Whilst the form book rarely counts for anything in Formula E, teams that run the Nissan and Stellantis powertrains, which proved the most effective in Jeddah last time out, could be considered early favourites, given the 1.8 mile layout of the Jeddah Corniche Circuit provided a lot of conservative driving.
The oval-to-infield layout is reminiscent of Formula 1’s 2000s outings at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a course specifically built for its runnings of the United States Grand Prix.
Homestead-Miami Speedway, which was opened in 1995, has always had its own road course, which was modified two years later to its current configuration.
It is Miami’s second time hosting a Formula E race, having previously hosted the race in Season 1, on a circuit incorporating the coastline of Biscayne Bay.
