Defending MotoGP champion Jorge Martin has confirmed he will miss the third round of the 2025 MotoGP championship in Texas.
Martin suffered a highside at the pre-season test in Sepang after suffering a tank slapper on his RS-GP, putting him out of contention for the rest of testing in Asia.
Despite undergoing successful surgery after suffering fractures to his right hand and left foot, Martin suffered another fracture to his left hand following a training accident. The Spaniard suffered a complex fracture of the radius.
On Thursday, on the eve of the second round of the season in Argentina, Martin revealed on a virtual call an update of his injury situation.
“[I] am struggling to recover fast, as fast I would like,” Martin revealed.
“I can say from here also that I won’t be in Austin, I would like to be there but I won’t be racing.
“I don’t know also if I can be there at Qatar, I don’t know yet, this is still really early for sure.
“I will like to make some kind of test for coming back to racing.
“I know Massimo [Rivola] is working on that so let’s see if we can make it possible.”
Martin’s return date is still up in the air and if he misses the Qatar race weekend too, his next nearest return date will be at Jerez from April 25-27, the fifth round of the championship.
Lorenzo Savadori will continue to stand in for Martin for the next two races.
